This morning, we’re glad to have Mathilde Fernandez with us, this time to share her inspiration gravitating around her solo project. Last time, our episode 388 featured her duo with Paul Seul : Ascendant Vierge.

Mathilde Fernandez’s selection

Mansfield TYA - Ni Morte, Ni Connue

Mathilde Fernandez: «This is from their new album; I have always loved the writing of Julia Lanoe, she’s excellent. I am such a fan since her project “Sexy Sushi” all her texts find a way to touch my heart, in their violence or their beauty and justness.» ImaCrea: «If you like Mansfield TYA, you might wanna check our episode 445 featuring them ;)»

Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare - 2 coro delle lavendaire 1998

Mathilde Fernandez: «Nothing better to start the day with a very powerful rhythm and sun vibes. This musical project has begun in Napoli in the late ’60s with the goal to research and spread traditional and ancient music from southern Italy. They sing old songs that haven’t survived, using ancient manuscripts and using forgotten music instruments.»

Zinda Reinhardt - Troumli

Mathilde Fernandez: «I love this girl, she reminds me the real punks like Nina Hagen, she sings in “Sintikès” language from est Europe, the tongue of her ancestors; Her musical project is very unique.»

MailTape’s selection

Mathilde Fernandez - Fard

ImaCrea: «Mathilde Fernandez keeps extending the horizon of her musical territory. Fard comes from her new EP to come “Sensible”, a courageous collection of gems all filled with her deeply sincere energy and her unique voice. I find this track sounds especially well with the strange era we’ve been living in for more than a year now. There’s something in it that captures the tragic aspect of our human imperfections while transcending it with hope and courageous love. Exactly what I needed to keep it up.»

Maria Violenza - La Ballade de l’Indifférence

ImaCrea: «Talking about sincerity and desire, I thought about another woman putting it all on stage, Maria Violenza. Another kind of energy, the kind able to break the mirror of our illusions. When there’s no future, there’s present, and whoever better than punks can wake us up?»

Daniel Schmidt - In My Arms, Many Flowers

ImaCrea: «Master and maker of gamelan from legendary Mills College, in California. This one dates back from 1978 and is a live recording coming from a recent album issued by Recital. I can only recommend the full album for an exceptional sound bathing session.»

Deena Abdelwahed - Lila Fi Tounes

ImaCrea: «Deena’s music has been sitting on my listening list for years but only till recently I could start to grasp her music. And what a rewarding experience. If you don’t get it instantly, try to pass that frustration and keep retrying from time to time ;)»

That’s all for this morning folks! Take great care, share the love. Amour pour Mathilde Fernandez for her eclectic Sunday selection and to Thibaut Daumain for his illustration based on a photography by the great Estelle Hannia!
